Third Annual Mark Knowles Celebrity Tennis Invitational Continues to raise money for worthy childrens' charities

The Third Annual Mark Knowles Celebrity Tennis Invitational, sponsored in part by HGChristie, was held December 4-6, with tennis greats Brian MacPhie, Jim Courier, Nicolas Lapentti, Mark Merklein, Daniel Nestor, Mark Philippoussis, Fred Stolle and Tom Gullikson in the line-up.

Over the course of the three events, over $60,000 has been raised for The Bahamas Children's Emergency Hostel, The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation (with their focus on helping children who otherwise would be unable to receive cardiac care), and the Cancer Society of the Bahamas.

It was a busy time for Mark, as he was went right from the tournament to the church, where he was married on December 7th.

Knowles, son of HGChristie Estate Agent Vickie Knowles of the Nassau office, together with Canadian partner Daniel Nestor finished number 3 Seed in the Association of Tennis Professionals Team Race standings with an ATP-best six titles in eight finals. The Bahamian-Canadian squad compiled a 56-17 match record and they were only team to win titles on all four surfaces (carpet, clay, grass, hard) during the last year.

Congratulations, Mark, and we wish you a fantastic '04!

Family Island Offices Go High-Speed

It's the best of both worlds - incredible peaceful blue waters, and the world at their fingertips!

Communications on Long Island, Exuma, and Eleuthera are now on-par with Nassau, thanks to a recent high-speed satellite internet installation. State-of-the-art Hughes 6000 systems allow HGChristie's Family Island personnel 24/7/365 connection to the internet at speeds of more than 200 times former dial-up connection times!

Formerly challenged with existing internet service, offices of Broker Associate Sylvia Scriven on Long Island and Estate Agent Neil Aberle on Eleuthera, and Exuma Manager Wendy Rowe are now completely integrated with all Christie departments... and with clients worldwide. The satellites have proven to be highly reliable, eliminating lag time and dependency on erratic services.

New HGChristie office for Harbour Island

In a move to enhance client services in the busy communities of Harbour Island, Spanish Wells and North Eleuthera, HGChristie is putting the finishing touches on its new Harbour Island office.

Just freshly renovated and newly landscaped, the new office is located in Grant's Plaza on Dunmore Street near the new Royal Bank and next to offices of McKinney Bancroft and Hughes. Spearheading the setup of the new office is Neil Aberle, along with Fina Johnson, HGChristie's resident Certified Interior Designer from the Nassau office.

Official opening is scheduled for mid-February, with full staffing planned for late Spring.

Governor's Harbour Office Nears Opening

"Never a dull moment," reports HGChristie Rentals Associate Gabby Fondas as preparations for the opening of the new Governor's Harbour office near completion.

The new office, again designed by Fina Johnson, is conceived as a one-stop rentals information centre and sales office, with trained staff, rentals feature wall, area maps, and complete lists of restaurants, fishing guides, and activities. Trained office staff will also suggest maids, cooks, bicycle and car rentals, and offer guide maps of Eleuthera. Renderings of upcoming projects underway in the Governor's harbour area will serve as points of interest in the interior decor.

With a central location opposite the Governor's Harbour Police station right on Queen's Highway, the new office is easy to spot.

Gabby expects that the new office will be very busy. You can find her at the new office number, (242) 332-3404 anytime after the end of February.

HGChristie Baha Juniors share Top Soccer Honours

In late breaking sports news, the HGChristie Baha Juniors Football Club have deadlocked for top spot in the ten team Nassau Nine and Under A League of the Bahamas Football Association.

After a stunning year with most of their wins earned with large scoring spreads, The Baha Juniors ended the season by splitting the crown with the Virgo Angels.

"The kids did very well this year", says John Christie, father of Dylan Christie, one of the Baha Juniors' star kickers. "This is a great way to show them what sportsmanship is all about, and HGChristie is proud to continue to be involved."
