Christmas in Grand Bahama

The tree is trimmed and now greets visitors to the Grand Bahama office in the holiday season.

The Christmas spirit is alive and well in Grand Bahama, according to Administrative Officer Melissa Forbes who emailed news of the office Christmas luncheon.

Melissa reports, "Our luncheon was great! We all decided that Ferry House would be the place. The food was delicious. The drinks were superb.
We ate and told stories along with a few very corny jokes from Mike...."

Merry Christmas from the Grand Bahama Staff!

H.G. CHRISTIE APPRAISER CONTINUES TO ENHANCE SKILLS
Paul Lowe, BRI, Attends Course At The Internationally Renowned Appraisal Institute

Paul Lowe, one of three appraisers for The Bahamas’ premier real estate firm H.G. Christie, recently completed an advanced continuing education course at the internationally renowned Appraisal Institute in Chicago.

With more than 18,000 members, the Appraisal Institute is an international membership association of professional real estate appraisers.

The Institute is also the acknowledged worldwide leader in residential and commercial real estate appraisal education, research, publishing, and professional membership designation programs.

The course, which focused on the mathematical procedures used to analyze data and derive value opinions for income-producing (commercial) properties, was attended by appraisers in many industries from all over the world: including the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the U.S. Military.

“The relevance of this course is extremely important in light of the significant increase of commercial property appraisals and sales in The Bahamas real estate market,” explains Paul Lowe.

“By keeping abreast of the most current procedures in the appraisal industry we are able to provide our clients with the most thorough analysis of their property and its value. This is a very competitive market and staying ahead of the game professionally is what makes the difference.”

An Estate Agent and appraiser for over three years for H.G. Christie, Paul is also a full-time member and licensed broker with The Bahamas Real Estate Association (BREA), and is one of only three Bahamian members of the Appraisal Institute. He has been received into the Bahamas Real Estate Institute and has been awarded the designation B.R. I. through a joint course of study with BREA and the National Association of Realtors in the United States.

Continuing education and enhancing professional skills is important to the H.G. Christie team.

“Our Bahamian real estate industry is quickly becoming increasingly more regulated,” adds John Christie, Vice President of H.G. Christie Ltd. “It is important to be aware of the current trends in the real estate business both locally and globally. Our staff adheres to the highest levels of professional standards through continuing education and experience - Paul Lowe’s latest course is one example of our commitment to professional excellence.”

District Manager Lanelle Phillips-Cole Elected to Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

Grand Bahama November 19, 2003 - HGChristie Ltd. District Manager for the Grand Bahama region, Lanelle Phillips-Cole was elected for a one-year term as Director on the Board of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce.

The Grand Bahama Island Chamber of Commerce is an active business organization with a mandate to provide the network, to sustain, promote and support business development in an effort to encourage growth and expansion in the Grand Bahama economy, and within a healthy and clean community environment.

Lanelle has set some definite goals for her tenure. "This year I want to work toward increasing our membership in Freeport by educating business owners about the benefits of our organization, both to their success in our local economy. It is important that business owners realize that together we are a powerful lobby group. The higher the membership, the stronger a voice we become in decisions made around us that affect our companies' successes."

New Appraisal Associate Philip Williams

The Nassau/New Providence office takes an opportunity to welcome our newest appraisal associate, Philip Williams, to the company. Philip joined us in the Nassau office after taking the first of the appraisal courses and will be working with Appraisals Manager Paul Lowe.

We wish Philip every success in his new career.
